Legendary broadcaster Barry Davies was 'surprised' by the BBC's decision to replace Gary Lineker as the host of Match of the Day with three presenters. Mail Sport previously revealed that Kelly Cates would share hosting responsibilities of the flagship weekend Premier League highlights show and its midweek Champions League package alongside Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman from next season. The news follows confirmation that the current main host of the Saturday night programme, Lineker, will stand down from the role at the end of the term after 26 years in the role.

I've been where Rasmus Hojlund is right now at various points in my career where there is that slight hesitation in all aspects of his game. Not scoring against Real Sociedad on Thursday means it's 19 games without a goal now and I do feel sorry for him because I don't really see how he has had service and opportunities created for him. Diogo Dalot not crossing for him is a case-in-point.

England star Trent Alexander-Arnold has finally won a long-running battle which will see him keep a £50,000 padel court in the garden of his £5million Cheshire mansion. The Liverpool defender initially built the sports court without permission from East Cheshire Council, but has now been allowed to keep it after agreeing to follow the retrospective conditions the council set him. But with growing rumours that the 26-year-old will pack his bags and move to the Spanish capital of Madrid this summer, the irony is that he may not even get to use the court again by the time the nice weather rolls back around.

Reese signed a four-year, $324,383 rookie scale contract ahead of her first pro season, and is set to make just under $75,000 in 2025, according to Spotrac. And while WNBA players are set to negotiate a new CBA after the players' union opted out of the current one in October (it still runs through October 31, 2025), Reese said on her 'Unapologetically Angel' podcast that players could skip games if negotiations go awry.
